FORKLIFT HIRE ON YOUR TERMS, ACROSS GAUTENG
Not every operation needs to own its forklifts. Whether you’re covering a seasonal peak, bridging a breakdown, or running a site where ownership doesn’t make commercial sense, renting keeps capital free and maintenance off your plate.
Retrolex has been supplying materials handling equipment for over 70 years. We hire out diesel, petrol, LPG and electric forklifts across a range of capacities, from Toyota, Mitsubishi, TCM and Nissan — the Japanese brands built for the kind of work South African sites demand.
Every rental unit is serviced before it leaves us and covered by our maintenance programme for the duration of the hire. If something goes wrong, our technicians are on call 24/7, with a four-hour response target across Gauteng. You’re renting the uptime, not just the machine.
We’re based at Founders View South in Edenvale, which puts us within easy reach of Johannesburg, the East Rand, Kempton Park, Germiston, Boksburg and Sandton.

FAQ
How much does it cost to hire a forklift?
Rates vary with lifting capacity, mast type, fuel type and rental duration — a 2.5-ton diesel unit for a week prices differently to a long-term electric on a warehouse contract. Send us your requirement and we’ll quote on it directly. There’s no charge for a quote and no obligation.
Do you deliver, and what areas do you cover?
We deliver throughout Gauteng from our Edenvale premises, including Johannesburg, the East Rand, Kempton Park, Germiston, Boksburg, Midrand and Sandton. Delivery and collection are arranged as part of the rental. Tell us where the site is and we’ll confirm timing.
What happens if the forklift breaks down during the rental?
You call us and we come out. Retrolex runs 24/7 emergency breakdown support with a four-hour response target across Gauteng, and rental units are covered by our maintenance programme for the duration of the hire. Downtime is our problem to solve, not yours.
What's the minimum rental period?
We hire daily, weekly, monthly and on long-term contract. Short-notice and ad-hoc hire is available subject to fleet availability — if you need something moving today, phone rather than emailing.
